60 Years of Indecision

On this day of 60th birthday of Nation’s
Independence – I decided to collate some of the wars the India had and what we
lost after winning them…

Wars/engagement

What army got

What politicos negotiated

Indo-Pakistani War of 1947

Saved and retrieved most of the valley. Kargil had
fallen. Shardu was about to be over run, Gilgit was in reach

Nehru got ceasefire for he cannot withstand the
loss of lives of his fellow Kashmiries

Sino-Indian War

Killed
in action 3,128

Championship award for peace  SHOULD BE AWARDED TO
NEHRU -

Btw ANYONE KNOWS HOW NEHRU DIED?

Indo-Pakistani War of 1965

Got them
Lahore

Returned much of hard won Punjab and failed to
solve Kashmir.

Indo-Pakistani War of 1971

Got the
entire East Pakistan with 93,000 POWs

Failed in Shimla to resolve Kashmir with 93,000
POWs…. Don’t know what else Indian Gandhi Needed to bargain… may be we
should have send an MBA from FMCG sector to bargain

IPKF ops 87-90

Won
Jafna, 1100 Indian Soldiers died to defeat LTTE

Srilankan President asking IPKF to be withdrawn or
be treated as Invaders – that when total Srilanka Army was at 28,000 and
India had 100,000 peace keepers

Kargil War

Army
lost positions and had to deploy 2 divisions to deal with three
Pakistani regiments

At last Politicos rose to call – it was Indian
Diplomacy that forced Pakistan not to reinforce the 3 regiments
