6000 court martials in 5 yrs

This is the number of personal in uniform belonging to Indian army.
Mind it we are talking of Rape,arson,assault and murders not just 'gross indiscipline'. Even for a army 1.2 million strong ( regulars) it just refelects somthing bigger.
It reflects inability of policy makers to address the core isssues.
The issue of kashmir for that matter-
We had militancy so we asked army to step in.
we found that counter-insergency units were getting to close to actually becoming a government of sorts , we carved out rashtriya rifles, seperating jawans and officers from the regulars.
We carved out a frce thta is having no time to rest.
We carved out a force which by all means is to suppress a revolt - fight an enemy within - one without uniform and also one which is almost the same as the next one whom the forces have swore to defend!

These RR units acount for a large chunk of these Court marshials and the sole reason being they are not given enough time to breathe.
Unlike civilian-paramilitaries these ppl have more stringent rules to abide by and a very dirty job to do.
May be creating more RR units and giving them rest for periods excess of 3 quarts can help....
