WHY IRAQ???
---------------------------------------------
This is certainly one question that has been booggling me for along time now...why Iraq was attacked in the first place...the reasons publisized-namely Iraqi Oil or revenge on behalf of George Bush Sr seem to obvious and certainly nocandidates for the US to bet its prestige, relations with main land Europe and almost entire world at stake.Planners at NSAmust have forcasted to Bush and his Commanders that such a unilateral action would push 'rest of world' to a quest to find a power balance may be EUmay be Russia-China-India pactsort of thing.watever be the actual shape of this balancing military might-it is now inevitable.

So I return to my question why Iraq?

With so much at stake the reasonhas to be deep rooted. Here is my analysis of what happened in baghdad-pentagon and Tel-aviv

Obviously Iraq was not a threat to US or its short term interests in middle east.Iraq was cripppled far more to do any harm. Its intelligence agencies were deeply infiltrated by those of US's allies.we are talking about a land where biggest business was to smuggle life saving drugs!

so what harm could Iraq could possibly have done?
the only obvious candidate is Israel.

inspite of being crippled Iraq remained the only threat to Israel's security!
It still had a disciplined army that was 6th largest in world and the only arab nation that was outside the influence of jews.

To support my argument I have four facts

1] Survival of Israel has always been First american overseas prority
2] Next year Bush goes to voters- a campaign that costs dollars- much of which comes from enterprises owned by jews(i m yet to find a powerful jew not in touch with Israel's concerns)
3] Saddam knew the only way out of US's trap was to become A new Nasser of arabia- An attempt was made when skuds fell all over Israel.
4] It took just weeks for Israel to trust Palestenians after Baghdad fell.Blood shed was only stepped up in recent weeks...but it seems Israel is ready to negotiate!!!!!
Israel & Pentagon visualised that kuwait invasion by Iraq had given them a unique opportunity to knock down a potentially hostile state once and for all.

Thats it.It wasnt Saddam or his mysterious WMD's but the seat of power that commanded 300,000 troops only one in region that Israel couldnt hav knocked down in 48 hrs.
Mysterious are the ways of diplomacy
world has not changed. It still has empires.some powerful.some weak.some dangerous.some cautious enough to take out dangerous ones............
